Our Solutions

Significance of the Southeast Asian ecosystem

  • In year 2000, 9% of global GHG emissions resulted from deforestation in Southeast Asia (source: WRI).
  • Southeast Asia hosts around 20% of global plant, animal and marine species. In the absence of appropriate intervention to tackle deforestation, 25% of Southeast Asia’s biodiversity may be wiped out by 2100 (source: UNU).
  • Protection of the Southeast Asian ecosystem, through implementation of sustainable natural resource management, is one of the most important and effective solution to tackle global climate change and biodiversity loss.

Many of us are unknowingly influencing the land use decision of Southeast Asia: Too often towards unsustainable use. All of us have important roles to play for Southeast Asia to achieve sustainable natural resource management.
